Ahh man, sampling janet’s anytime anywhere? usually i’d be so against it, but im really feeling this. Especially since i’ve often paralleled Kendrick Lamar with Tupac, just in terms of lyrical content and poetic skill, he reminds me so much of him in that sense, just a complete and compelling artist.. Totally forgot about this song, totally forgot how much i liked this album from Beyonce.. how can your first album show so much artistry than future albums you put out (while your vocal control improves?) I think where i fail to connect to beyonce is that - i was on this tip when this cd came out, and as i grew up, she didn’t? still tried to capture the young audience, when i so wished she would have continued on this journey and mesmerize me.. maybe now that she’s a mama n all she’ll go back this route, so many cuts! Thought this was a pretty good read and assessment - before baby Blue i wondered the same about Beyonce honestly..she has a beautiful voice when she uses it without all of the extras, but she chooses to dumb down her music, so it doesnt have staying power. With Rih Rih - call it what it is, not the strongest singer by far, but she’s got the IT that people love and she has to try to stay relevant

How many miserable chicks have you seen walking around? lol i’ve seen my share. Every once in a while, a song comes along that does something different and makes me chuckle. This song reminds me of how Outkast once told a girl that her shit really did stink indeed.. Another one by this beautiful lady.. saw commentary on this single and Sza in general that sounded so good, like it was written by yours truly, and such that i couldn’t possibly say it any better so i’m just quoting

Newcomers enter into the musical fray on a daily if not hourly basis in these days. With all of the potential competition out there trying to also be seen and heard, it’s truly no small feat to stand out enough to not be lumped in with all the rest of the chattel.

Talib never really disappoints, probably one of the most underrated mc’s out there in my opinion.. something new from him, and even though it’s new i find that he always seem to stay consistent, doesn’t change too much. I’m really feelin this one and excited for the mixtape he’s putting out on 9-12.. in his words “cutting, scratching and thoughtfulness on a mixtape”

These days i appreciate thoughful anything, there’s such a lack thereof in today’s music

Happy TBT - don’t know if i quite understood the words i was singing in 2ND GRADE!! in 92’ but i know i loved this song because my dad had a crush on chante moore and i sang the hell out of it.

Flash foward to 2012 and i really think this song is the CUT! i play it all the time on the grown and sexy tip, not only is it musically pleasing to the ear w/ the jazzy feel, and not only does she have beautiful voice.. but she’s basically tellin ‘ol dude, i have no mercy for you, no mercy on you that i hooked you, you’re to blame too homie, you got me, so knuck if you buck! saddle up and come get this lovin’ lol..
